Having exhibited at numerous international venues over the last decade, Berlin-based painter Paul Pretzer’s paintings have become distinctive for their tragicomedy. In this new body of work created during his three-month New York residency, Pretzer introduces new fantastical protagonists that now yield a greater intensity when isolated against abstract landscapes.
Korean artist Jong Oh creates minimal sculptures that respond to the natural qualities of light and space of a site, and in the case of his third solo exhibition, a light-filled two-story room. Composed of humble materials such as hand-painted string, delicate jewelry chains, tiny nails, stones, Plexiglas, slight metal rods and weights, his structural haikus expound the complex interplay of gestures and spatial relations between its components, outlining immense balance and restraint.
