Concert | Rite of Summer presents Rite-a-Thon Concert

Performances by Pam Goldberg and Blair McMillen. Acknowledged by many to have created the blueprint for places like Poisson Rouge and The Stone, Pam Goldberg is an interesting combination of professional pianist and entrepreneur. Having concertized in New York in varied venues, she decided to create a different environment for both performer and audience – distinctly different from the concert halls. Blair McMillen has established himself as one of the most versatile and sought-after pianists today. The New York Times has called his playing "lustrous," "riveting," and "brilliant.....prodigiously accomplished and exciting." Known for imaginative and daring programming, he plays a repertoire that spans from late-medieval keyboard manuscripts to the 21st-century.

Dancing | VolvoTango: Outdoor Dancing

The wooden surface out on the Pier is of an exceptionally good quality. A broad healed dance shoe works fine. In damp conditions a smooth soled rubber shoe is fine and some even like to dance barefoot. The dance area is at the end of the pier under a large tent that both serves as an umbrella and a sound horn. Because of this protection and because of the polishing that regular VolvoTango events give it, the wood is silky smooth and because it's not laid on concrete, the wood is soft, there is almost a sprung-like feel to the floor.
