Another example of an event that you can attend all year round on weekdays is Federal Reserve Bank Tour, which takes place every week day at 1 pm (but advanced reservations are required). You can take at least 13 free tours every day of the year, except the New Year Day, July 4th, and the Christmas Day. If you are classical music afficionado, you can spend whole day in New York going from one free classical concert to another. City Walk | Bronx Walk


Beautiful trees, flowers of the Bronx Botanical Garden, Arthur Avenue, The Edgar Allen Poe Cottage and the Hall of Fame. Moderate walking, some hills, about five to six hours. Walk down Bedford Park Blvd. to meet with the walkers arriving on the Metro North from Grand Central Terminal at 9:45AM. Entrance to the “Gardens” is free on Saturdays until 10:00AM. After a walk in the “Gardens” we will walk west on Fordham Road to Arthur Avenue for lunch. We will then go to The Edger Allen Poe Cottage (fee $3.00) off the Grand Concourse and then on to the Bronx Community College for the "Hall of Fame for Great Americans". Bring lunch, water, binoculars or a camera with optical zoom lens. We will go rain or shine. Check the Shorewalker’s calendar for possible changes.

City Walk | Brooklyn Bridge, Brooklyn Heights and Dumbo Tour


This is a 3-hour tour that begins with a walk over the Brooklyn Bridge, an icon of New York City for over 125 years, with spectacular views of Manhattan and Brooklyn. Performance | Liliia!: A One-Woman Show


Lilia Skala flees Nazi-occupied Austria and works her way out of a NY zipper factory to an acting career culminating in Oscar, Emmy and Golden Globe award nominations. Libby Skala captures her grandmother’s indomitable spirit in a heart-warming one-woman show that explores the influence a grandmother can have on a young woman’s life. Libby Skala performed Lilia! in a successful Off-Broadway run at the Arclight Theatre, produced by Mirror Repertory Company; at The Groundlings Theatre in Los Angeles presented by founder Gary Austin; and to sold out houses in London, Seattle, Toronto and Winnipeg (where it was selected “Best Show” out of 118 shows by University of Manitoba Radio (CJUM) at the Winnipeg Fringe Festival). Lilia! enjoyed a critically-acclaimed run at Pacific Theatre in Vancouver, followed by performances in Tbilisi, Republic of Georgia and Berlin and Dresden, Germany. It toured to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland and ran for three weeks in London, sponsored by the Austrian Cultural Forum.

Talk | Russian Queer: Revolution or Devolution?


The century of persecution, struggle, and broken hopes for the Russian LGBTIQ. How was it to live inside the mental and spiritual prison for years during the Soviet Union? What does it mean to live under the rainbow shadow within the Putin's Russia? Speaker: Lyosha Gorshkov, PhD in Political Science, Co-President at the Russian-Speaking LGBT American Association (RUSA LGBT, USA). Gorshkov was forced to leave Russia in 2014 for being open gay professor and activist in Perm region. Lyosha has been studying and teaching LGBTIQ identity since 2005, and was one of few people in Russian Academy, trying to make LGBTIQ issues visible. He is a vocal and outspoken public advocate for LGBTIQ rights.
