Discussion | Community Conversation: Listen to & Explore Music by The Beatles & Nina Simone

Attend this facilitated, participatory discussion where the group will listen to two iconic songs closely, think out loud, and hear one another. Nina Simone's and the Beatles' versions of "Revolution" invite us to explore: what does real change demand? When is protest hopeful, and when is it dangerous? In 1968, The Beatles and Nina Simone each released songs titled--or centered on--the idea of revolution. The Beatles' "Revolution" wrestles with the desire for change while warning against violence and ideology. Simone's "Revolution," written in reply, refuses caution: she insists that survival demands upheaval, and that freedom requires breaking the systems holding people down.

Takenaga's open-ended process combines structure and chance, creating compositions that suggest cosmic scenes, landscapes, or microscopic forms. The exhibition features vivid colors such as neon green, turquoise, hot pink, and violet against backgrounds of celestial or fiery tones, framed by red lines. Discussion | Exploring Rhythm & Light Through Music, Biology & Time

Jazz musicians listen and sync with one another, shifting rhythms and settling into new grooves. Our brains stay in sync with the day itself, using light and color to set circadian cycles that guide sleep, metabolism, and health. Drawing on research showing how fruit flies use changes in the color of sunlight to tune their circadian clocks, the conversation considers what this work reveals about human biology in a world shaped by artificial light, and why staying in rhythm with the day matters.

Berry's music reflects her upbringing in a Trinidadian household immersed in calypso and soca music, blending traditional soca with R&B influences. Screening | Goddess Era (2025): Korean Documentary

This film is a journey to rediscover "Goddess Culture"—a tradition long suppressed and concealed within patriarchal society. Centering on the Jeju Haenyeo (women divers) as the living embodiment of these ancient myths, the documentary portrays them not just as laborers, but as guardians of nature who carry the spirit of traditional goddesses. By highlighting their life of communication and coexistence rather than competition and growth, the film offers a profound reflection on our society's relationship with nature.
