This walk is bringing attention to its vital role in creating one of the scarcest resources in all of Manhattan—wildlife habitat! Learn about the Park’s wildlife by joining experienced naturalists on guided nature walks along the Park’s esplanade. Enjoy a meandering waterfront walk while viewing and learning about the park’s flora and fauna, including some of the 85 different species of birds identified within Park boundaries. Peek into some of our many gardens to discover butterflies, dragonflies and other interesting insects. Get to know the native plants that thrive in unexpected places in and around the river’s edge.

Theater | Alex Webb's Amelia, a Play about One Woman's Journey through Civil War America


AMELIA, a new play based on the true story of one woman’s epic journey across Civil War America in search of her husband, will make its New York premiere in a site-specific production at a former Civil War prison camp. Previously developed at The Kennedy Center, AMELIA is an Editor’s Pick of The Washington Post that culminates at the gates of the notorious Andersonville Prison Camp where the central character is forced to disguise herself as a male Union soldier in this suspenseful and highly theatrical production.

Jazz | Blue Note Jazz Festival: Groove Theory / Soulive / DJ ?uestlove


At the age of 18, urban chanteuse Amel Larrieux wrote and demoed a song, which led to her pairing with musician/producer Bryce Wilson to form the duo Groove Theory. The duo’s tunes, saturated with sounds of romance and sensuality were showcased in their breakthrough hit, “Tell Me,” which broke the top ten on the Billboard Hot 100 and the top five on the R&B charts. After time apart, both artists have come into their own, creating new material and performances well worth the listen. When brothers Neal and Alan Evans first invited guitarist Eric Krasno to get down at their Woodstock, NY studio, it was out of mutual love for the great soul-jazz organ trios of the 60’s and 70’s. They went on to form Soulive (pictured) and released numerous records and recordings with acclaimed artists like Chaka Khan, Dave Matthews, Talib Kweli and John Scofield. As The Roots’ drummer and joint front-man, DJ ?uestlove is well known across the musical sphere. Whether known for the twelve albums The Roots produced or his performances with the band on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, ?uestlove’s impact on music today is undeniable.

The Comedy of Errors tells the story of two sets of identical twins that were accidentally separated at birth. Antipholus of Syracuse and his servant, Dromio of Syracuse, arrive in Ephesus, which turns out to be the home of their twin brothers, Antipholus of Ephesus and his servant, Dromio of Ephesus. When the Syracusans encounter the friends and families of their twins, a series of wild mishaps based on mistaken identities lead to wrongful beatings, a near-seduction, the arrest of Antipholus of Ephesus, and accusations of infidelity, theft, madness, and demonic possession. No tickets required; Just show up and choose a seat on the steps and benches.
