Lillian Hellman's second play, Days to Come, is a family drama set against the backdrop of labor strife in a small Ohio town which threatens to tear apart both town and family. "It's the story of innocent people on both sides who are drawn into conflict and events far beyond their comprehension," Hellman said in an interview before Days to Come opened in 1936. "It's the saga of a man who started something he cannot stop..." Directed by J.R. Sullivan. Starring Larry Bull, Chris Henry Coffey, Ted Deasy, Roderick Hill, and Janie Brookshire. This is an archival recording. Streaming is available until Feb 21st.

Join Lezlie Harrison from WBGO - the jazz mecca The New York Times called “arguably the best jazz station in the world” - hosts a listening party focused on some of Billie Holiday’s most influential recordings, along with albums and tracks she influenced. Artists including Dianne Reeves, Bob Dylan, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Norah Jones, Frank Sinatra, Cassandra Wilson and others carry Billie’s influence in their music. Billie’s signature song “Strange Fruit” has been recorded by Tori Amos, Nina Simone, Lou Rawls and Sting, among many others. Her “God Bless the Child” has been covered by artists from Sam Cooke to Aretha Franklin to Stevie Wonder to Annie Lennox. And the influence is wide and deep.
