You can take at least 13 free tours every day of the year, except the New Year Day, July 4th, and the Christmas Day. City Walk | Queens Waterfont Walk, Part 1


Walk the Queens waterfront from Long Island City to Flushing, at least as much of it as they can get to. Pass Socrates Sculpture Park, Steinway mansion, and Lent-Riker-Smith Homestead (circa 1654). Drop-off points. Important: Bring water and lunch; food and water not available where we will have lunch.

City Walk | Brooklyn Bridge, Brooklyn Heights and Dumbo Tour


This is a 3-hour tour that begins with a walk over the Brooklyn Bridge, an icon of New York City for over 125 years, with spectacular views of Manhattan and Brooklyn. The tour then moves on to a stroll of Brooklyn Heights, America’s and New York City’s first suburb. The tour then explores the neighborhood DUMBO before ending at the Fulton Ferry landing.

Part celebration and part mini-conference, it's the Wikipedia Day 16th Birthday Bash NYC. One of a number of Wikipedia Days worldwide, the day will feature keynote presentations, breakout group discussions, lighting talks and yes, cake. Wikimedia NYC is especially interested in seeing newcomers join experienced Wikipedians/Wikimedians on this day. Fans of the Free Culture movement, and new frends from cultural institutions interested in developing Open Education projects —step right up. There is wifi access, and they will give you the log in details on-site. Projectors will also probably be available for use by the various presenters. Concert | Dr. Martin Luther King 'Strength to Love' Unity Concert


AN attempt to recapture the real intent of The Martin Luther King Holiday--public service through public action. The concert program will be comprised of the music that provided the spiritual nourishment to allow Dr. King and others to do what they did. This includes the music of Handel, Bach, and Giuseppe Verdi. They are featuring the African-American Spiritual in the rarely-performed "Life of Christ" song cycle composed and compiled by Roland Hayes. Many musicians will join, including Elvira Green, Gregory Hopkins, Frank Mathis, Everett Suttle and others. There will be performances of choral works by the Schiller Institute NY Community Chorus.

Staged Reading | Four Seasons: A Staged Reading of New Verse Drama


Four Seasons by Michael Seebold follows a host of fantastical characters through the prismatic and saturnine worlds of four thematically interconnected narratives: ‘Three Mice to Hekla’ (Winter), ‘Reliquary Morning’ (Spring), ‘Shade and Water’ (Summer), and ‘In the Mirror, Hesperus’ (Autumn).
