You can take at least 13 free tours every day of the year, except the New Year Day, July 4th, and the Christmas Day. A free weekly drop-in Tai Chi class on Friday mornings from May through October. The sights and sounds of the Hudson River provide an ideal backdrop for focusing and exercising the body and mind. Author Reading | Michael Newton discusses his book Alexander Hamilton: The Formative Years


Even though Alexander Hamilton was among the most important Founding Fathers, less is known about his early life than that of any other major Founder. Relatively few records have been found regarding Hamilton's birth, childhood, and origins in the West Indies. Hamilton "rarely...dwelt upon his personal history" and never recorded his life's story. Most of Hamilton's correspondence prior to 1777 was lost during the American Revolution. This has resulted in many gaps in his biography, which has given rise to much conjecture regarding the details of his life. Concert | Latin Alternative: Kinky / Los Auténticos Decadentes / Astro


The annual Latin Alternative Music Conference showcase features Mexican techno-funk rockers KINKY, who are known for their "insanely catchy disco-funk rhythms" that make "human beings have trouble sitting still." (LA Times) The five-piece band grew out of the Avanzada Regia musical movement in Monterrey, Mexico in the late 90s and have continued to surprise their fans with their evolving sound that spans languages as well as genres. The night begins with the “infectiously cheery, lighthearted and danceable” (NPR) Chilean indie pop of ASTRO, who would be right at home on a bill with MGMT and Passion Pit, and the ska-infused rock of the beloved Buenos Aires band LOS AUTÉNTICOS DECADENTES, originally formed in 1986 and enjoying a recent return to the spotlight.

On Black Friday 2012, four African-American teenagers stopped at a gas station to buy gum and cigarettes. One of them, Jordan Davis, argued with Michael Dunn, a white man parked beside them, over the volume of music playing in their car. The altercation turned to tragedy when Dunn fired 10 bullets at the unarmed boys, killing Davis almost instantly. This seamlessly constructed, riveting documentary explores the danger and subjectivity of Florida's Stand Your Ground self-defense laws by weaving Dunn's trial with a chorus of citizen and pundit opinions, and with Jordan Davis' parents' wrenching experiences in and out of the courtroom. 85 min.
