Workshop | Kayaking on the Hudson


Join the Manhattan Community Boathouse for a paddle on the Hudson! The free walk-up kayaking program operates on a first-come, first-served basis and is suitable for people of all ages and athletic abilities. Kayaks, paddles, lifejackets and basic instructions are provided. Please allow time for waiting in line when planning your visit. They cannot guarantee that you will have a chance to go out if you arrive less than an hour before we close. The last boat of the day goes out 15 minutes before the program closes for the evening. Weather permitting.

Easy 3-4 miles with drop off points. Walk on boardwalk and beach and go for a swim. Bring lunch and bathing suits. Rain cancels. Contact hike leader directly if you have questions about the hike.

When Kate realizes her suitor, the dashing Marlow, is a nervous wreck around upper-class women, but very easy and free with working-class women, she realizes she needs to “stoop to conquer” by posing as a maid to win him over. She Stoops to Conquer, first performed in 1773, is perhaps the most famous English “comedy of manners.” Show up by 6:10pm for a good seat.

Taking their blindingly flamboyant dance-psych to the Doc Martens showcase stage, Prince Rama — a Brooklyn duo consisting of sisters Taraka and Nimai Larson — came clad in neon bodysuits and battle-ready facepaint as they tore through a powerhouse set of electronic-drum-and-guitar tracks. Roaring into the mic, Taraka freak-danced with audience members, looking like a futuristic Prince — if he did aerobics in a galaxy far, far away
