Opening Reception | Former Guggenheim Fellow Rodrigo Valenzuela: Los restos (Photography & Installation)

In Los restos, acclaimed artist Rodrigo Valenzuela constructs haunting studio-built scenes using cinder blocks, corrugated metal, and wood—materials that evoke construction, labor, and architectural decay. These sculptural assemblages are photographed in stark black-and-white, blurring the line between documentation and fiction. The resulting works resemble miniature ruins, layered with references to modernist painting, Minimalist sculpture, and Latin American Brutalist architecture. Valenzuela is a recipient of the Guggenheim Fellowship, Harpo Foundation Grant, and the 2025 Richard Pousette-Dart Award. His work has been exhibited at the New Museum, Frye Art Museum, Portland Art Museum, and BRIC, among many others.

Concert | Lo-Fi Pop Music: Matt Costa (In Person AND Online!)

Lo-fi music often has a "do-it-yourself" or home-recording feel, with a rawness and authenticity that can be very appealing. The combination of lo-fi production and folk/pop songwriting often results in a chill, relaxed, and sometimes melancholic atmosphere. The versatile and evocative voice of singer-songwriter Matt Costa has been diligently honed over two decades of touring, both solo and with a roster of indie rock artists that includes Oasis, Modest Mouse, Ryan Adams, G.Love, and Death Cab for Cutie, among many more. Costa has written and recorded in the studio while moonlighting as an accomplished filmmaker and soundtrack composer. His latest project, Explorations of Sight and Sound, merges Costa's many talents with a multimedia showcase event that draws from his sizable catalogue of lo-fi folk pop songs, spiced with an eclectic selection of moody instrumentals and played in concert with a series of self-produced short films that explores beautiful landscapes including California's Indigenous cultures and the land and native culture of Sardinia, Italy. There are three ways to access this event: 1. General Admission, first-come first-served. Just show up! 2. Fast Track opening the Tuesday before the event at noon. 3. The event will also be streamed live for free on the linked web page.
