Xray Eyeballs (pictured) is the brainchild of O.J. San Felipe, a fixture in the underground Brooklyn punk, noise, and indie scene, who has played in numerous bands including Golden Triangle (Mexican Summer, Hardly Art). While Golden Triangle is known as an all around party band that bashes out garage pop tunes, O.J. had something else in mind for Xray Eyeballs.
As a founding member of Vivian Girls – she wrote the biggest hit “Where Do You Run To” off the band’s 2008 debut – and a drummer/vocalist in both Crystal Stilts and Dum Dum Girls, Frankie Rose has been an integral part of Brooklyn’s music scene for years. Signed to Slumberland Records, she now fronts Frankie and the Outs. The band makes spooked melancholic dream pop with echoes of Phil Spector’s Wall of Sound, The Aislers Set, and Black Tambourine. In 2010, Stereogum dubbed the Brooklyn group as a “Band to Watch,” along with the likes of Best Coast, Cults, Givers, Dom, and Wild Nothing, among others.
