Workshop | Deep Yoga and Journaling

Sharyn Hahn lead you through some warm-up poses and a vinyasa flow as well as several short meditations, creative visualization, and intention-setting writing or sketching activities. You will leave feeling more flexible, relaxed, energized, with a mantra that you can carry with you throughout the week. Please bring a yoga mat if you have one, and they do have some if you need to borrow one for the class. Also bring a journal and something to write with. You will be writing a few times during the class, and if you prefer to sketch or want to do both, that is fine. Wear comfortable clothing, and feel free to bring a warm or cool drink to keep you hydrated (with a secure lid). All levels are welcome. If you have never done yoga you will be able to participate as well.

Workshop | Community Rowing

No experience is necessary though rowing does require some physical dexterity. Community Rowing events are free sessions that include a basic introduction to rowing for first timers (safety orientation, rowing technique, and terminology) and of course plenty of actual rowing on the Hudson River. The rows take place in five-person wooden rowboats built on site. The rows last, depending on river conditions and crew experience, between one and three hours. Please arrive on-time as the crews will be assigned before 1PM. Bring extra water, a hat, and sunscreen as you will be rowing outdoors in the hot sun. Rowing is weather dependent and will be canceled for high winds, rain, or thunderstorms. All participants must sign a waiver and be able to climb a ladder. Every Sunday from June 10-October 21, 2018.

Author Reading | Art After Money, Money After Art: Creative Strategies Against Financialization

From the chaos unleashed by the ‘imaginary’ money in financial markets to the new forms of exploitation enabled by the ‘creative economy’ to the way art has become the plaything of the world’s plutocrats, our era of financialization demands we question our romantic assumptions about art and money. By exploring the way contemporary artists engage with cash, debt and credit, Max Haiven identifies and assesses a range of creative strategies for mocking, sabotaging, exiting, decrypting and hacking capitalism today.

Opera | The Mile-Long Opera: 1000 singers perform

1000 singers from across New York will come together for the first-ever performances of The Mile-Long Opera: a biography of 7 o'clock. A sweeping choral work will immerse audiences in the personal stories of hundreds of New Yorkers about life in this rapidly changing city. The conversations, centered on the meaning of 7:00 pm, reveal a vast spectrum of feelings and perspectives—and, by extension, represent the diverse character of the city’s inhabitants and their individual experiences. Conceived by composer David Lang. "David Lang has established himself as a master of powerful, large-scale public music through ambitious projects like “the public domain,” for 1,000 voices at Lincoln Center, and “symphony for a broken orchestra,” for hundreds of broken school instruments in Philadelphia." - New York Times
