Play | Yours Unfaithfully: 'un-romantic comedy' (virtual, streaming for 24 hours)

An "un-romantic comedy" about the price of free love, Yours Unfaithfully is an insightful, intelligent and exceptionally intimate peek behind the closed doors of an open marriage. Stephen and Anne, blissfully happy for eight years, are committed to living up to their ideals. When Stephen, a writer who isn't writing, begins to sink into a funk of unproductive moodiness, Anne encourages him to seek out a fresh spark. Can their marriage survive uncompromising generosity, sacrifice and love? More than the story of an unconventional couple, the play is about what happens when our ideals clash with our emotions. Written by Miles Malleson Directed by Jonathan Bank The event is streaming until May 16th.

Dance Performance | Tiny Hurricane: Our Kids Destroy Us (virtual)

We love our children. They also destroy us. In Jen Abrams's Tiny Hurricane, a woman looks the charred wasteland of her pre-partum self dead in the eye, while standing in awe of the luminous, powerful child she has given herself over to. She tells the story of her own destruction through movement and text. The transcendent joy of growing, birthing, and raising a new human is real. Tiny Hurricane deals with the price of that joy. My experience of becoming a parent was one of total destruction of the self I knew, of turning myself over completely to the experience of parenthood. Tiny Hurricane deals honestly with the loss of self many parents experience, but which is taboo to talk about in most parenting circles, and which is rarely portrayed in media. It is a moment of real talk about what a profound mess parenting actually is.
