With Dawn Fuentes, Director of Community Relations, The City of New York Civilian Complaint Review Board. The CCRB is the largest independent and neutral police oversight agency in the United States. The CCRB investigates and mediates complaints of police misconduct—from excessive force to offensive language—filed by members of the public against NYPD officers. An overview of civilians’ rights in police encounters under New York law; how citizens can use the CCRB’s services to reduce misconduct and improve community-police relations; and the evolution of the CCRB, from its roots in the Civil Rights era of the 1950s to its pioneering Mediation and Prosecution units will be discussed.

Bombay Jazz, dynamically blending jazz with classical Indian music, is composed of four internationally renowned musicians: guitar master Larry Coryell, one of the pioneers of jazz-rock; saxophone virtuoso George Brooks; bansuri flutist Ronu Majumdar; and tabla player Aditya Kalyanpur.
