Tour | Greenwich Village Neighborhood Tour

Greenwich Village is among Manhattan's most desirable and expensive residential neighborhoods. It's history, however, betrays it's monied status. The Village, with it's quiet, shaded streets, lined with lovely brick and brownstone townhouses, was once the incubating ground of artistic, social and political movements that have helped shape US history. From the Beats to the Folk Movement, from workers rights to gay rights, the Village has often been the center of it all. Tours are Mondays and Fridays at 2pm, and Wednesdays and Saturdays at 10am.

Discussion | Playwright Nassim Soleimanpour discusses his work White Rabbit Red Rabbit

Welcome producers Tom Kirdahy and Devlin Elliott for a discussion about the new off-Broadway sensation White Rabbit Red Rabbit. Playwright Nassim Soleimanpour will Skype into the conversation. In White Rabbit Red Rabbit, the performer has never seen the script before it begins. Like the audience, they are encountering Soleimanpour's words for the first time. White Rabbit Red Rabbit has been called a play. But it’s a lively, global sensation that no-one is allowed to talk about. Its award-winning playwright, Nassim Soleimanpour, is Iranian. His words have escaped censorship and are awaiting your audience. Slyly humorous and audaciously pointed, this ‘theater entertainment meets social experiment’ is unlike anything, and will make you question everything.

Play | The Iron Heel: adaptation of Jack London's novel

The play is frameworked as a 27th Century Historical Reenactment Drama, presented in the socialist utopia London predicted in his prologue and footnotes. As onstage "historian," Antonia Meredith, welcomes the audience in with food, drink, and participatory music (folk songs from the early 20th Century, some with altered lyrics to reflect the action of the play). Written as socialist propaganda, the Iron Heel is the story of an election between a socialist revolutionary and an entrenched oligarch. The oligarch prevails, turning America fascist, and inspiring the Marxist revolution. Set in Jack London's future, 1912 - 1934, its themes nonetheless have obvious relevance during this election season, a century later.

This film recreates the life of Frank Morgan in concert form, tracing his progress from teenage musical prodigy to hardcore junkie and, finally, to one of the music world’s most remarkable comeback stories. A one-night-only, all-star musical tribute filmed live at San Quentin forms the backbone of a film that brings together the past, present and future of Morgan’s musical legacy. Moving seamlessly between the thrilling live performance and the riveting true story of a musician whose talent first destroyed and then redeemed him, the award-winning filmmaker paints a searingly honest portrait of a prodigiously gifted, tragically flawed musical genius. 84 min. Post-film discussion with alto sax star and Morgan’s protege Grace Kelly and his manager Reggie Marshall.
