Learn about the park’s wildlife by joining experienced naturalists on guided nature walks along the park’s esplanade. Enjoy a meandering waterfront walk while viewing and learning about the park’s flora and fauna, including some of the 85 different species of birds identified within Park boundaries. Peek into some of our many gardens to discover butterflies, dragonflies and other interesting insects. Get to know the native plants that thrive in unexpected places in and around the river’s edge. Each nature walk is unique and offers a one-of-a-kind treasure hunt-like experience. Please wear comfortable shoes and dress appropriately for the weather. Workshop | Kayak Polo


They’ve got the equipment (kayaks, vests, helmets, paddles), you bring the body, enthusiasm, and sportsmanship (shorts/sandals, too). Your level of experience doesn’t matter. They are limited to 15 participants per game, so reserve your spot for the game at 11AM. They’ll put you in a team and give you a vest number on a first-come first-served basis. Dedicated players and volunteers, though, will end up being teachers to others. They focus on individual attention and kayak mentoring, and offer the best free kayak learning experience you can get in NYC. Please arrive at least 30 minutes before game time to be donned with vest, helmet, paddle, and kayak.

During these limited hours, visitors can explore the normally closed sanctuary at their own pace along the rustic trail. See how the conservancy has restored this native woodland garden for birds and other wildlife. The wood-chipped trail is uneven; please wear appropriate shoes. This ecosystem is a protected area and home to many flora and fauna. No groups, dogs, bikes, or strollers. Free and self-guided. Space is limited.

Concert | World Sounds: Sweet Micky / MHD / Erick La Peau


Michel Joseph Martelly, known by his stage name Sweet Micky, is one of Haiti’s best-known musicians. A singer and keyboardist, Sweet Micky is known for Haitian compas (or konpa) music, which he has been recording and performing since the late 1980s. In less than three months, MHD has made his way to the top and he’s here to stay. Thanks to the million views on his YouTube channel for the Afro Trap-series he has become a real online phenomenon. His songs are largely inspired by African sounds and crazy, danceable beats, outlined in the Afro Trap-anthem ‘Champions League.’

Play | Hudson Warehouse presents Shakespeare's Othello


Shakespeare's tragedy, believed to have been written in 1603. It is based on the story "A Moorish Captain" by Cinthio, first published in 1565. This tightly constructed work revolves around four central characters: Othello, a Moorish general in the Venetian army; his beloved wife, Desdemona; his loyal lieutenant, Cassio; and his trusted but ultimately unfaithful ensign, Iago. Given its varied and enduring themes of racism, love, jealousy, betrayal, revenge and repentance, Othello is still often performed in professional and community theatre alike, and has been the source for numerous operatic, film, and literary adaptations. Takes place Thursdays thru Sundays, July 28-August 21.

Dance Performance | Art and Dance: Kalabanté Circus / Iron Skulls and Quim Moya / Sxip’s Hour of Charm


Iron Skulls is a experimental dance company from Barcelona; founded in 2012 with b-boying group called Iron Skulls Crew. Composed by dancers from a few points from Catalonia, identified their personal style and desire to investigate the boundaries of movement. Quim Moya is a visual and avant-gardist artist who explores lot of possibilities in arts and more specifically painting. He has studied in different Catalan schools of Arts and followed specializations in graphic, design and multimedia communications. In 2006, he was co-founder of Candida Company. Sxip Shirey is a producer/composer based out of New York City. He began his relationship with the circus as the touring band and composer for the Bindlestiff Family Cirkus in the late 90s. He then became co-composer and music director for Anti-Gravity’s “Crash Test Dummies” at the New Victory Theater on Broadway. He is currently music director and composer for the international touring circus arts show LIMBO which was developed between Strut N Fret productions in Australia and Underbelly in London with South Bank Center as a co-producer.
