Spring is a-bloom! Welcome the season of awakening and sunshine with a timely fun-filled scavenger hunt. To mark the season and commemorate the ship’s intercontinental crossings, this scavenger hunt challenges people of all ages to find illustrations of flowers hidden throughout the decks of a historical three-masted cargo ship. The flowers we’ll be searching for are illustrations of blossoms from countries Wavertree visited in her impressive 35-year sailing career.  Those who find all the flowers in the hunt will even receive a small prize!

Erin Brockovich is an unemployed single mother, desperate to find a job, but is having no luck. This losing streak even extends to a failed lawsuit against a doctor in a car accident she was in. With no alternative, she successfully browbeats her lawyer to give her a job in compensation for the loss. While no one takes her seriously, with her trashy clothes and earthy manners, that soon changes when she begins to investigate a suspicious real estate case involving the Pacific Gas & Electric Company. What she discovers is that the company is trying quietly to buy land that was contaminated by hexavalent chromium, a deadly toxic waste that the company is improperly and illegally dumping and, in turn, poisoning the residents in the area. As she digs deeper, Erin finds herself leading point in a series of events that would involve her law firm in one of the biggest class action lawsuits in American history against a multi-billion dollar corporation. The husband takes out a mortgage on the home and buys a machine from a crafty auto salesman. The couple gets in with a fast set and Gilbert borrows some cash from his employer. The employer discovers the theft but accepts Gilbert's promise to work hard and make good and atone for his embezzlement. All ends well for the couple. Screening | Silent Film Showcase: Edward Everett Horton, Silent Comedian


This event will examine the career of Edward Everett Horton. Remembered today for his fussy persona in sound films, Horton doesn't come to mind as a silent slapstick comedian--but he was! Although overlooked, Horton had a substantial career in silent comedy which culminated in a starring series of eight two-reelers produced by Harold Lloyd. This program presents three of Horton's best films: Find the King (1927), Scrambled Weddings (1928), and Dad's Choice (1928). Screenings feature live piano accompaniment by MoMA's Ben Model, with an introduction and Q&A by film historians Model and Steve Massa.

Lecture | Wu Ying and the Palace Museum He Helped Found (online)


Founded in 1420, the Forbidden City in Beijing had served as the center of Chinese royal power for five centuries. Following the collapse of the Qing Dynasty in 1911, the imperial complex had been turned into the Palace Museum in 1925. In recognition of the role it has played, the 178-acre compound with its breathtaking architecture was designated a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1987. A key person who helped turn the Forbidden City into the Palace Museum was Wu Ying, father of Wu Shan, Wu Zuguang and Wu Zuqiang, all famous cultural figures in China.
