Richie Hofmann is the recipient of a 2025 Guggenheim Fellowship and a 2025 Literature Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts. His poetry appears in two previous collections, A Hundred Lovers and Second Empire, and in The Paris Review, The New Yorker, Poetry, and The Yale Review. MaKshya Tolbert practices poetry and placemaking in Virginia. Explorers Justin Fornal and Chad Anderson screen their latest collaboration and an interactive mezcal tasting. The Mezcalarians, “a psychedelic-mezcal-pickled-Western”, straddles narrative and documentary film and is a love letter to Oaxaca, one of the most unique regions on the planet. Armed with only machetes and mezcal, three friends embark on an expedition to carry a 50-gallon wood barrel of fermenting agave through remote corners of the region. Along the way, the trio meets some of Oaxaca's greatest artisans keeping Pre-Colombian indigenous culture and tradition alive. Justin Fornal is an award-winning writer and filmmaker using storytelling and activism to showcase vanishing traditions in crisis zones with expertise in ancient textile production, traditional food, and the material culture of ritual.
