Ted has released fifteen CDs; Rhapsody in Gershwin, which features his arrangement of Rhapsody in Blue, reached #1 in jazz album sales at iTunes and Amazon. His solo album, The 3 B's, received 4 stars from DownBeat magazine and features the music of Bud Powell, Bill Evans, along with his personal improvisations on Beethoven themes. Ted is the recipient of the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Piano Competition prize, grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, and has had many of his works commissioned and premiered by prestigious institutions like the New York City Opera and Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. The speakers, who represent diverse practices in the cultural fields—from art making to curation to institutional leadership—and operate across vast geographies, will unpack their different approaches to assemblies. Among the topics that will be discussed are assemblies of the human and other-than-human as collectives, assemblies of materials into collections, and assemblies of spaces and places into shared worlds. The speakers will draw from their engagement with exhibitions, films, public programs, and cultural institutions to map how these forms of assemblies realize the poetic potential of coming together through difference. This unique party is an outdoor Silent Disco with the return of DJ CherishTheLuv, spinning tracks! The first-ever woman to DJ on Broadway, DJ CherishTheLuv has spun for legends including Oprah, opened for LL Cool J, shared the stage with the Sugar Hill Gang, provided music for scores of Netflix shows, and composed and rocked out for NY Fashion Week, NBC, MTV VMAs and more. Get lost in her music under the stars and be the first to groove on the dance floor this summer! There are two ways to access this event: 1. General Admission, first-come first-served.
