Ruth Bauer Neustadter's Go Figure is a painting exhibition and visual dance exploring the variations and possibilities of the human figure through the eyes of one artist. Techniques, materials, styles, subject matter vary in each painting. Some are expressionistic figures made with paint on canvas, others are constructions and some are made with found objects on wood.
Out of Bounds presents felted sculptures by Susan Kaplow. Kaplow's work falls outside the bounds of the usual felting practices, which employ the softest fibers and aim for the smoothest surfaces to create wearable and decorative objects. Instead, Kaplow chooses rougher fibers and techniques that preserve a reference to the animals that provide the raw material. She adds cooler elements-- metals, bones, thorns-- to play against the warmth of the felt, increasing the dynamic tension in the sculptures.
