Are you part of a sketch group looking to try out material? Are you a writer who wants talented sketch actors perform your sketch? Looking for helpful feedback from a panel of sketch-perts (experts, duh)? Love sketch comedy no matter how you can get it? This jam is for you! Hosted by all-star sketch student Jay Fazal Karim, with performances & advice from PIT sketch house teams and other pro sketch actors, PENS & PENCILS invites you to either: 1.) perform a sketch (5 mins max!) with your team & get quick feedback from our panel of sketch-perts OR 2.) bring in enough written copies of your sketch for each character (5 pages max!) & some of the PIT’s best sketch actors will perform it on the fly for the audience, followed by quick feedback from our sketch-perts. It’ll be a fun, energetic, silly time to miserably fail or wildly succeed and have a blast while doing it.

Careening back and forth between three-part harmony-singing and bursts of instrumental improvisation, The Tres Amigos deliver earnest, often comic originals and innovative takes on a range of classics, all tightly arranged to suit the group’s unique mix of alto sax, accordion, acoustic guitar, and hollerin' voices. White Lightning, Woody Guthrie, slow Delta blues, fast Brazilian choros, Night and Day, and Good Night Irene all find their way into the Amigos’ exuberant repertoire and feel like they belong there. The Tres Amigos are North Carolina ex-pats Justin Poindexter (guitar) and Eddie Ray Barbash (washboard and sax), and San Francisco native Sam Reider (accordion). Members of the Amigos have appeared on the main stage at Jazzfest in New Orleans, the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, and the Grammy Awards in Los Angeles.
