Tour | Greenwich Village Neighborhood Tour

Greenwich Village is among Manhattan's most desirable and expensive residential neighborhoods. It's history, however, betrays it's monied status. The Village, with it's quiet, shaded streets, lined with lovely brick and brownstone townhouses, was once the incubating ground of artistic, social and political movements that have helped shape US history. From the Beats to the Folk Movement, from workers rights to gay rights, the Village has often been the center of it all.

Concert | Old-School Funk: Lettuce / The Soul Rebels

Lettuce - After celebrating their 20th anniversary as modern day rulers of old school funk, the Brooklyn-based juggernaut Lettuce is not showing any signs of slowing. Having blown up stages from coast to coast last year, ranging from The Fillmore in San Francisco to Terminal 5 in NYC, Bonnaroo to Pemberton and all points in-between, Lettuce is poised to continue their rapid growth for years to come. The Soul Rebels - The Soul Rebels started with an idea shared between founding members Derrick Moss and Lumar LeBlanc to expand upon the pop music they loved on the radio and the New Orleans brass band tradition they grew up with. They took that tradition and blended funk and soul with elements of hip hop, jazz and rock. Together with a group of young, like-minded musicians from all over New Orleans, they formed The Soul Rebels and set out to make their mark on the music they love. The band has settled on an eight-piece lineup that can be heard on their international debut release Unlock Your Mind.

Concert | Pop Sounds: Lucius / Luke Temple / Pavo Pavo

LUCIUS, a triple-threat of vocal harmonies, infectious hooks, and dance-inducing percussion, “brings delicate beauty to even the most bombastic moments.” (New Yorker) Pair those traits with the band’s irresistible live show and it’s easy to see why NPR Music calls them “a fabulous band playing such infectious pop songs” and Paste hails the group as “blissful.” Charismatic co-founders and lead vocalists Jess Wolfe and Holly Laessig sing in unison—two voices as one—uniquely delivering songs with stories told from the same perspective. Multi-instrumentalists Andrew Burri, Peter Lalish, and Dan Molad round out the stylish, Brooklyn-based quintet, which will expand here for the hometown crowd. Lucius will share the stage in this all-Brooklyn triple bill with LUKE TEMPLE, who studied at School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and spent years as a painter before embarking on a life in music. After recording two critically acclaimed but commercially disappointing albums for Mill Pond Records, he was at the point of moving on again when, in 2008, he made what would become the first Here We Go Magic album, forming the band and releasing the self-titled debut in 2009. A frenzy of critical acclaim spurred tours, two more full lengths, and an EP with the band. He has since returned to his solo roots; his latest album, recorded with friends Eliot Krimsky (Glass Ghost) and Mike Johnson (Dirty Projectors), is Good Mood Fool. The enchanting indie folk outfit PAVO PAVO is sometimes cinematic, sometimes tender, sometimes retro, and always motivated by a cosmic search for hooks. Its members found their voice on the winding roads of indie rock, art music, and 60s pop—all of which shines through on their forthcoming record, Young Narrator in the Breakers, produced by Dan Molad (Lucius) and Sam Cohen (Apollo Sunshine, Yellowbirds). Gates open at 6:30PM.
