Opening Reception | Mixed Media Works: Sunny Side Down by Swiss Duo Aubry/Broquard

In their practice, the Swiss artist duo Bastien Aubry (b. 1974, lives in Zürich) and Dimitri Broquard (b. 1969, lives in Brussels) skilfully test the boundaries between art, design and popular culture. The duo flirts with traditional craft, do-it-yourself, the flawed and the deficient as well as the fake as a reaction to the perfection and stylistic confidence of modern design and art. Drawing, collage, photoshop painting, papier mâché and particularly ceramics are their preferred media. With a tongue-in-cheek attitude, Bastien Aubry and Dimitri Broquard roam through the realm of modern and postmodern art, pick up motifs and references and give them a grotesque and trivial twist.

Staged Reading | Play Reading: Brushes

by Cathy Hamilton and Carol Starr Schneider. Brushes: A Comedy of Hairs is about the complicated relationship between women and their hair since time immemorial. Brushes with disaster, vanity, envy, self-doubt, sex, death - even the law - are explored in hilarious and poignant style. Woven together with strands of universal wisdom by a b-list goddess, the follicular follies flow from ancient Greece to the Bad Hair Days Inn to a new salon on the block called Blow Me Now. Grab your mother, daughter, best friend, better half and ex-stylist as we drink to our mistakes and celebrate our collective crowning glory.

Author Reading | Will Holder and Alex Waterman read from Yes, But Is It Edible?

Some years ago, Will Holder and Alex Waterman proposed to Robert Ashley that musicians and non-musicians might produce new versions of his operas, by way of typographical scores. The book, Yes, But Is It Edible? The Music of Robert Ashley for Two or More Voices, is a result of that proposal, containing scores for Dust (1998) and Celestial Excursions (2003). Through public readings of the scores-in-progress, Holder and Waterman gained a better sense of what to put on the page, for any reader who follows. With the book's completion, three additional singers will be invited to workshop these scores with the aim of producing a full version of Dust (1998), for five voices and book.
