Symposium | 3rd Annual Photography, Expanded Symposium


This one-day event will present innovative documentary storytelling and emerging ideas in digital media and journalism on social justice issues. City Walk | Brooklyn Bridge, Brooklyn Heights and Dumbo Tour


This is a 3-hour tour that begins with a walk over the Brooklyn Bridge, an icon of New York City for over 125 years, with spectacular views of Manhattan and Brooklyn. The tour then moves on to a stroll of Brooklyn Heights, America’s and New York City’s first suburb. The tour then explores the neighborhood DUMBO before ending at the Fulton Ferry landing. Park Walk | Central Park Tour - Lower Section


Once described as the lungs of the city, Central Park brings a breath of fresh air to New York's crowded urban terrain. What started out as the rocky and desolate northern fringes of a rapidly expanding city is today among the world's most famous and beloved public parks. This tour focuses on the middle of Central Park, starting in front of the beautiful American Museum of Natural History. From there enter the park and explore, seeing everything from a castle to the wild-looking Ramble. See an Ancient Egyptian obelisk and the place where Stuart Little raced his sailboat in the E.B. White children’s classic. Don’t forget to bring along your camera. There will be many wonderful photo opportunities throughout. This tour takes place Sundays, Mondays and Wednesdays at 10am.

Program: Johann Sebastian Bach from Toccata and Fugue in C Major, BWV 564 César Franck Pastorale, Op. 19 Paul Hindemith from Sonata No. 2 Godfrey Tomanek Adagio Joseph Callaerts Toccata in E Minor, Op. 29 Nathan J. Bayreuther began his career as a professional organist at age thirteen at the First Congregational Church in New London, Connecticut. Hired as the full-time Director of Music five years later in 1999, he quickly established himself as an organ recitalist, performing at various venues across the state.

Jazz | Parlor Jazz with Marjorie Eliot


Every Sunday afternoon, writer, performer and impresario Marjorie Eliot hosts in her apartment Parlor Jazz — a free, two-hour concert that for nearly two decades has attracted musicians, jazz lovers and interested passerby. A central figure in helping preserve and continue Sugar Hill's lustrous jazz legacy, Marjorie Eliot is the founder of Parlor Entertainment, an all-star jazz collective that plays concerts citywide.

Concert | Gabriel Faure Requiem


Gabriel Fauré composed his Requiem in D minor, Op. 48, between 1887 and 1890. The choral-orchestral setting of parts of the Roman Catholic Mass for the Dead is the best known of his large works. Fauré's reasons for composing the work are unclear, but do not appear to have had anything to do with the death of his parents in the mid-1880s. He composed the work in the late 1880s and revised it in the 1890s, finishing it in 1900. A short requiem lasting 35 minutes, it is written for orchestra, organ, mixed chorus and two soloists, soprano and baritone, and performed in Latin. It consists of seven movements; most famous is the central soprano aria Pie Jesu. The piece premiered in its first version in 1888 in La Madeleine, Paris.

Opening Reception | Exhibition: Cynthia Daignault's Light Atlas


In 2014, Daignault embarked on a yearlong exploration of America. This road trip and the resulting paintings form her most ambitious and epic work to date, Light Atlas. Consisting of 360 paintings, one for each degree of the circle she traveled, Light Atlas chronicles the view every 25 miles around the country. A grand portrait of America, the work stands as the centerpiece of the exhibition, filling the entire main gallery and spanning over 300 linear feet.

Hilliard Greene performs widely in the New York City area: recitals, nightclubs, concert halls (including Carnegie Hall), recording studios, radio and television. New York-based vocalist and songwriter Marcus Goldhaber “rivals the jazz instincts of Chet Baker and John Pizzarelli,” according to JazzTimes, garnering more critical raves for his “wonderfully imaginative” interpretations of straight-ahead jazz standards while earning a reputation among critics and fans for his accessible songwriting. You’ll see Goldhaber performing in New York’s famed clubs like 54 Below, The Blue Note, Iridium, Birdland, Kitano, The Metropolitan Room, Cutting Room, and at prestigious clubs and concert halls from Las Vegas to Miami, having shared stages along the way with the likes of the legendary Les Paul, Billy Stritch, Vince Giordano, and Bono.
