City Walk | Brooklyn Bridge, Brooklyn Heights and Dumbo Tour
This is a 3-hour tour that begins with a walk over the Brooklyn Bridge, an icon of New York City for over 125 years, with spectacular views of Manhattan and Brooklyn. The tour then moves on to a stroll of Brooklyn Heights, America’s and New York City’s first suburb. The tour then explores the neighborhood DUMBO before ending at the Fulton Ferry landing.

Workshop | Kayaking on the Hudson
Join the Manhattan Community Boathouse for a paddle on the Hudson! The free walk-up kayaking program operates on a first-come, first-served basis and is suitable for people of all ages and athletic abilities. Kayaks, paddles, lifejackets and basic instructions are provided. Please allow time for waiting in line when planning your visit. They cannot guarantee that you will have a chance to go out if you arrive less than an hour before we close. The last boat of the day goes out 15 minutes before the program closes for the evening. Weather permitting.

With Joe Rinehart, Peer Advisor in the Democracy at Work Network’s Technical Assistance Program.
A worker cooperative is a values-driven business that puts worker and community benefit at the core of its purpose. Interest in worker cooperatives and cooperative development is growing. Though we don’t yet have comprehensive data on the nature and scope of worker cooperatives in the U.S., researchers and practitioners estimate that there are 300-400 democratic workplaces in the United States, employing around 7,000 people and generating over $400 million in annual revenues.

NYC's Unicycle Festival rolls across New York City this September. Activities include races, competitions, exhibitions, and a variety of unicycle sports including basketball, hockey and sumo. For fans of extreme riding, the Hell on Wheel trials course challenges riders throughout the day. Workshop | Big City Fishing
Fishing in New York City? You bet! Each summer, Big City Fishing offers a free program, to those as young as five who are eager to learn both how to fish and about the Hudson River environment.
They provide the rods, reels, bait and instruction. Beyond teaching fishing, the program also provides participants with a first-hand opportunity to learn about river ecology and the many fish species that can be found in the river. Participants can drop in a line and relax, or engage with environmental educators on such topics such as water quality, fish biology and more. A fun and educational experience, Big City Fishing offers city-dwellers a unique option for outdoor family recreation.
Big City Fishing takes place every Sunday in September, 2015.

Concert | The Dee Dee LeVant Gospel Ensemble
Dee Dee LeVant comes from a gospel family. She has worked as a studio musician for Columbia Records and Atlantic Records, and recorded with the Latin sensation Frankie Mercado on his first Spanish and American record, "Latin Soul." Her Broadway experiences include Your Arms Too Short to Box With God, God's Trombones, God's Song, and as an understudy in Hair and The Wiz. Dee Dee has performed with The Harlem Gospel Choir, as soloist with the all-male 150 voice choir at The Cathedral (Floyd Flake) Church, with The Harlem Blues and Jazz Band, The Cotton Club Dance Band and with her own band, Why Not Jazz.

Theater | A Musical Adaptation of Homer’s The Odyssey
This is a free Public Works musical adaptation conceived and directed by Director Lear deBessonet, with music, lyrics and book by Todd Almond. The Odyssey will feature over 200 actors and community members alongside five equity actors, including Brandon Victor Dixon as Odysseus, Karen Olivo as Penelope and Taran Killam as Cyclops.
