A pervasive absence of decisive political action on climate change, despite a rich trove of knowledge about its potentially dangerous consequences since at least the 1970s, combined with the failure of successive global summits to reach adequate resolution affect us all. The Cities & Citizenship Conference will look at where design and environmentalism cross over to make an impact on these issues? Along with the scientific aspects of ecological design, they will explore the intersection between design and the social sciences by looking at the concept of “city” and “citizen” in parallel.

Gerard and Kelly's exhibition Timelining opens with the performance of Verb Dance taking place in an installation in the partially disassembled remains of the black box theater risers. The sound of the risers' deconstruction is recorded and played back in the space as the sound score to a performance. Within this temporary installation, the artists present a performance score in which two dancers work within/through/around what remains of the risers.
