Little did he know that, more than 200 years later, his home would serve as the official residence of the First Family of New York City - a place where history is made, not merely recorded. As a historic house museum run by the Parks Department, sitting on 11 acres of grounds now known as Carl Schurz Park, Gracie Mansion has served as the home of 11 mayors, beginning with Mayor Fiorello H. La Guardia in 1942. Each tour is one hour, followed by a 15-minute Q&A session with an assigned docent.

Home to over 2 acres of continuously changing landscape, this west side gem offers a peaceful escape from the rush of the city and plenty of photo opportunities of Little Island’s rich native vegetation and unique architecture. Please arrive early, as the group will be moving from the meeting location promptly at 1pm. Gear will not be provided, but bringing a camera is optional.

Little did he know that, more than 200 years later, his home would serve as the official residence of the First Family of New York City - a place where history is made, not merely recorded. As a historic house museum run by the Parks Department, sitting on 11 acres of grounds now known as Carl Schurz Park, Gracie Mansion has served as the home of 11 mayors, beginning with Mayor Fiorello H. La Guardia in 1942. Each tour is one hour, followed by a 15-minute Q&A session with an assigned docent.

Did you know over 280 species of birds have been documented in Central Park? This birding adventure is led by expert birder Alan Drogin who will help you spot some of them! Whether you're a seasoned birder or a curious beginner, this program will introduce you to the basics of bird identification, including how to recognize birds by shape, behavior, and sound. Follow the fall migration and explore the natural wonders hidden in the heart of the city! Alan Drogin has been birding for over 30 years in 20 countries around the world and across 26 states.  He is a member of the NYC Bird Alliance (formerly Audubon), the American Littoral Society, NYS Ornithological Association, and the Linnaean Society of New York. Binoculars will be given on a first come, first serve basis.
