Annual tribute to 9/11 and prayer for peace, conceived and choreographed by Artistic Director Jacqulyn Buglisi. The performance takes place beginning at 8:15 AM and concluding at 8:46 AM, the tragic moment when American Airlines Flight 11 crashed into the North Tower. Typically the performance features more than 150 dancers, but this year the reimagined socially-distanced version of the work will be performed live by 24 dancers (from Martha Graham Dance Company, Buglisi Dance Theatre, Ailey II, Ballet Hispanico's BHdos, Limon Dance Company, and more). The streaming will be followed by remarks from industry leaders, a world premiere film featuring dancers from around the world, and the full 2019 Table of Silence Project 9/11.

Opera | The Met: Bizet’s Les Pêcheurs de Perles (virtual)

Bizet’s rarely heard opera returned to the Met for the first time in a century on New Year’s Eve 2015, in Penny Woolcock’s acclaimed new production. Star soprano Diana Damrau sings Leïla, the virgin priestess at the center of the story. Matthew Polenzani and Mariusz Kwiecien are Nadir and Zurga, rivals for Leïla’s love who have sworn to renounce her to protect their friendship—and who get to sing one of opera’s most celebrated duets, “Au fond du temple saint.” Nicolas Testé is the high priest Nourabad and Gianandrea Noseda conducts Bizet’s supremely romantic score.
