You can take at least 13 free tours every day of the year, except the New Year Day, July 4th, and the Christmas Day. Screening | Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto with Itzhak Perlman (1979), Selections from Wagner's Tristan und Isolde by Sir Georg Solti (1976) (virtual)


Wagner's powerful opera Tristan und Isolde explores the doomed love of the two title characters. The opening Prelude and Liebestod finale--featured during Carnegie Hall's Opening Week Music Festival in 1891--encapsulates the drama, as performed by Sir Georg Solti and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in 1976. Recorded three years later, internationally beloved violinist Itzhak Perlman brings Tchaikovsky's tender lyricism to life in the composer's only Violin Concerto, with The Philadelphia Orchestra and its longtime conductor Eugene Ormandy. The streaming will be available through June 3.

The New York Philharmonic is in Queens this weekend. That's right. The oldest symphony orchestra in the entire United States (founded in 1842) will perform Bandwagon 2 .The three-hour show will unfold on a mobile, 20-foot shipping container with a foldout stage and LED video wall, as well as integrated lighting, a video control system, and a state-of-the-art Meyer Sound Spacemap Go system. On Friday at 5 pm, James Lovell, the Afri-Garifuna Music Ambassadors, and NYP String Quartet will kick off the fun, followed by PUBLIQuartet and Bartlett Contemporaries. May 28-30, 2021
