Discussion | Celebrations of the Season: A Panel Discussion on the History of the Holidays (Online)

"For millennia, cultures across the Northern Hemisphere have celebrated the periods in and around the winter solstice: the time in December when the North Pole, furthest in her tilt from the sun, produces the longest night of the year. Over time, these festivals, rites, and ceremonies have grown to compete with and be informed by one another—overlapping and influencing each other while maintaining one obvious throughline from Saturnalia to Christmas: a joyous celebration of life in the face of the coldest and darkest season.  Join for a roundtable discussion with authors, Bruce Forbes and Tara Moore to discuss their respective works: Christmas: A Candid History and Christmas: The Sacred to Santa, and how winter festivals have linked cultures throughout time into today."
