Festival | Tulip Festival in Community Garden
The Tulip Festival is a tradition more than 30 years old, with members gathering to plant the front of the garden with tulip bulbs on an annual basis.Visitors can view and learn about 100 different varieties of tulips. Multiple visits are encouraged. This event day is an "Information Day," where garden members will speak with visitors to give info about the tulips and the garden.

Park Walk | Bronx River Walk
Attendees will walk through the parks that run along the southern four miles of the Bronx River, starting from its mouth and ending at the southern entrance to the Bronx Zoo. Bring or buy lunch to eat outdoors.

City Walk | Exploring the History, Architecture, and Food of Chinatown
This roughly two-mile walk explores the historic core of Chinatown as well as a less-touristed section on East Broadway. Attendees will also make stops on Henry, Oliver, and St James streets to view remnants of an Irish neighborhood along with a 17th century Jewish cemetery and the oldest brick home in NYC. Toilets are available in Columbus Park, which the group will reach around noon. There's an option for lunch at the 105-year-old Nom Wah Tea Parlor on Doyers St., but this is optional. The end point is the Museum of the Chinese in America. Its collection can be seen in about 45 minutes. Several restaurants, Chinese and others, are nearby.

Symposium | I Can See It All Even with My Eyes Closed: The Life and Art of Madalena Santos Reinbolt (online)
A one-day virtual seminar showcasing new research into Madalena Santos Reinbolt’s artistic practice. A day of talks and presentations held in both English and Portuguese, is the first large-scale program exploring the life, art, influences, and creative processes of Madalena Santos Reinbolt (Vitória da Conquista, Brazil, 1912–1976, Petrópolis, Brazil). The program will focus on the trajectory of Santos Reinbolt, an Afro-Brazilian painter and embroiderer who migrated in search of employment from rural Northeastern Brazil, where she grew up, to the larger cities of Salvador, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, and Petrópolis in the second half of the 20th century. She chronicled local landscapes, people, and rituals from both her past and present while witnessing the rapid industrialization of her country in the second half of the 20th century. Looking at Santos Reinbolt’s vibrant depictions of her social, natural, and spiritual environment, speakers will contextualize her practice as an expression of creative freedom and resistance within the complex climate of post-war Brazil.
