Workshop | Drawing the Park

It has been said that art takes nature as its model. The beauty of nature has inspired many artists, from the wildlife portraits of John James Audubon to the stunning black and white photography of Ansel Adams. Urban Park Ranger Art and Photography programs encourage you to interpret the natural would through artistic expression, while learning about the local environment. This program will allow you to take inspiration from some of the Park’s most famous spots and express yourself through black and white drawing. All supplies provided. Program will take place outdoors, weather permitting. For more information please visit www.nyc.gov/parks/rangers or call 311 and ask for the Urban Park Rangers. Other | Holiday Singing

New Yorkers traditionally celebrate the holidays with song, and here is a chance to sing yuletide carols in a downtown historic park. The annual 45-foot Christmas tree will be lit for the season between the hours of 4 pm and 1 am. This is the traditional celebration of the holiday with carols. The Rob Susman Brass Quartet, song leader and the revelers from all over the city will lustily sing out the familiar tunes. The words are in the complimentary songbooks. “Peace on Earth, Good Will to Men” will ring out to remind us all of the true meaning of the holidays.
