Learn about the park’s wildlife by joining experienced naturalists on guided nature walks along the park’s esplanade. Enjoy a meandering waterfront walk while viewing and learning about the park’s flora and fauna, including some of the 85 different species of birds identified within Park boundaries. Peek into some of our many gardens to discover butterflies, dragonflies and other interesting insects. Get to know the native plants that thrive in unexpected places in and around the river’s edge. Each nature walk is unique and offers a one-of-a-kind treasure hunt-like experience.
Please wear comfortable shoes and dress appropriately for the weather. Loud noises and barking tend to startle wildlife and reduce viewing opportunities - please be considerate and leave your dog at home.

They’ve got the equipment (kayaks, vests, helmets, paddles), you bring the body, enthusiasm, and sportsmanship (shorts/sandals, too). Your level of experience doesn’t matter.
They are limited to 15 participants per game, so reserve your spot for the game at 11AM. They’ll put you in a team and give you a vest number on a first-come first-served basis. Dedicated players and volunteers, though, will end up being teachers to others.
They focus on individual attention and kayak mentoring, and offer the best free kayak learning experience you can get in NYC. Please arrive at least 30 minutes before game time to be donned with vest, helmet, paddle, and kayak.

During these limited hours, visitors can explore the normally closed sanctuary at their own pace along the rustic trail. See how the conservancy has restored this native woodland garden for birds and other wildlife. The wood-chipped trail is uneven; please wear appropriate shoes. This ecosystem is a protected area and home to many flora and fauna. No groups, dogs, bikes, or strollers. Free and self-guided. Space is limited.

Concert | Rock Steady Crew's 39th Anniversary
Nice and Smooth is a hip hop duo from New York that consists of Greg Nice (Greg Mays) and Smooth B (Daryl Barnes). The duo released four albums from the late 1980s to the mid 1990s. Their biggest radio fame came from “Sometimes I Rhyme Slow…,” from the group’s second album, Ain’t a Damn Thing Changed, released in 1991.
Born Antonia’ Reed in Philadelphia, Bahamadia was first introduced to hip hop culture as a DJ spinning at local house parties in the 80’s. A writer at heart, Bahamadia honed her skills as a poet and emcee with superior rhyme and delivery skills. Her work has been featured in electronic, progressive, jazz and experimental genres. Bahamadia’s eclecticism secured her rise to prominence on the hip hop and world music scene in the 90’s.
The first human beatbox in the rap world, and still the best of all time, Doug E. Fresh amazed audiences with his note-perfect imitations of drum machines, effects, and often large samples of hip-hop classics. His introduction to most hip-hop fans came with his astonishing performance in Beat Street behind the Treacherous Three.

Shakespeare's tragedy, believed to have been written in 1603. It is based on the story "A Moorish Captain" by Cinthio, first published in 1565. This tightly constructed work revolves around four central characters: Othello, a Moorish general in the Venetian army; his beloved wife, Desdemona; his loyal lieutenant, Cassio; and his trusted but ultimately unfaithful ensign, Iago. Given its varied and enduring themes of racism, love, jealousy, betrayal, revenge and repentance, Othello is still often performed in professional and community theatre alike, and has been the source for numerous operatic, film, and literary adaptations. Takes place Thursdays thru Sundays, July 28-August 21.
