Dance Performance | Contemporary Dance: Open Studios with Netta Yerushalmy

“Working with a dominating visual eye obsessed with shapes and structures, I sculpt and arrange highly specific pure movement. I work towards abstraction within a form that can never be abstract. The dances that I make consist of a multiplicity of utterances, or ideas, that take their form in movement and structure. These movements and structures are the ideas. I aim to engage with audiences by imparting the sensation of things-as-they-are-perceived, not as they are known, and to challenge how meaning is attributed and constructed. My desire is to produce de-familiarizing aesthetic experiences.” – Netta Yerushalmy Netta Yerushalmy is a dance artist, choreographer and performer whose work aims to engage audiences by imparting the sensation of things as they are perceived, not as they are known, and to challenge how meaning is attributed and constructed. Built on a 130-foot by 40-foot floating platform, Swale contains an edible forest garden. Performance | Storytelling: Borderless and Boundless

Peter Stevenson from Wales and Regina Ress from NYC weave traditional and personal stories to explore visible and invisible boundaries, tear down walls, and celebrate connection. Peter Stevenson brings the story of women who lived freely in the literal no man’s land between high tide and the cliffs of west Wales; Regina Ress shares the legend of a woman called forth from her village to help a crocodile. These and other tales, true and possibly true, invite us all to consider the barriers, literal and figurative, that we build to mark our territory and the gates we might fling open to embrace the “other” and, by doing so, enlarge our lives. Appropriate for adults and youth 12 and older.
