Dance Performance | Thunderbird American Dancers Pow Wow and Dance Concert (virtual)


The 46th annual Thunderbird American Dancers Pow Wow and Dance Concert: dances, stories, and traditional music from Native Peoples of the Northeast, Southwest, and Great Plains regions. The event, emceed by Bessie-winner Louis Mofsie (Hopi/Winnebago), has become a treasured New York tradition for celebrating our diversity by honoring the culture of our first Americans. On-demand streaming is available until Mar 7th. All proceeds from this event will go to college scholarship funds for Native American students.

Performance | Ice Rink Short Pup Up Performance (in-person, outdoors)

Since America's inception, immigrants have served this country through military service. We Are American Soldiers is a documentary which illuminates stories of Chinese Americans who served during World War II, only to come home to face discrimination. The 36-minute film will be shown in full, followed by audience Q&A with filmmakers Katie May Porter and Gregg Porter. This film addresses several subjects including immigration, Chinese culture, and the human spirit. It tells one man's story of immigrating to America, being drafted, and serving with an all-Chinese American unit of the 14th Air Services Group.

Moderator Annette Insdorf will interview the renowned actress/filmmaker Julie Delpy, and include audience questions. Julie Delpy starred in Kieslowski’s Three Colors: White, and Richard Linklater’s trilogy – Before Sunrise, Before Sunset, Before Midnight – whose scripts she co-wrote with him and co-star Ethan Hawke. They earned Academy Award nominations in the screenplay category in both 2004 and 2015. Her films as an actress include Jim Jarmusch’s Broken Flowers, Todd Solondz’s Weiner-Dog, and Agnieszka Holland’s Europa, Europa. She has written and directed movies including Two Days in New York (co-starring with Chris Rock) and Lolo. My Zoe is a bold domestic drama that interweaves science fiction. Delpy plays Isabelle, a geneticist devoted to daughter Zoe, and chafing at the custody demands of her testy ex-husband. After a fatal accident, Isabelle makes a daring decision with the help of a fertility expert (Daniel Bruhl). My Zoe is in theaters as of Feb 26.
