You can take at least 13 free tours every day of the year, except the New Year Day, July 4th, and the Christmas Day. Symposium | Moving Into the Out There: Indeterminacy and Improvisation in Performance and Environmental Practice


The Interdisciplinary Laboratory for Art Nature and Dance's fourth annual symposium on dance, movement, and the environment. The two-day event brings together dancers, choreographers, designers, ecologists, advocates, and scientists for interactive panel discussions, field workshops, and networking. Into the Out There highlights the insights and discoveries emerging from the performative work completed throughout 2011 at Fresh Kills Park on Staten Island. Scientists study climate using weather patterns from around the globe, over a long period of time, to determine warming trends. Understanding our climate helps us prepare our city for a more sustainable future. The Urban Park Rangers will introduce you to these important scientific concepts that will help you prepare for the future. The Rangers' climate programs explore topics like climate change, global warming and concepts of sustainability. During the weather programs, we will dive deeply into everyday weather events including lightning and thunder, clouds and the water cycle, and hurricanes and extreme storms. All programs are lectures appropriate for all ages, and feature little or no walking.
