Workshop | Thinking About A Career Change

This workshop is most appropriate for adults who have had several different employers and at least 15 years of work experience. These days, workers are apt to change jobs frequently and many are taking the leap of switching careers or industries. Turn what could be a daunting ordeal into an invigorating inner journey of self-reflection. Whether you're feeling clueless about what you want, or are focused on getting a toehold in a particular industry or career, it's unrealistic to try to totally "reinvent" yourself. For those of us with years of successful work experience, a more practical approach is to "reintegrate" by drawing on our accumulated knowledge, and highlighting the valuable transferable skills we bring to the table. This workshop will take you on a scenic journey of your own work history. You'll assess your interests, values, and skills from your past jobs which, in turn, will increase your self-knowledge -- the important first step to a career change. By looking backward, you'll move forward more thoughtfully and uncover new insights for a rewarding new career direction. Presented by Sherry Natkow.

Concert | Angela Johnson, Commanding Singer-Songwriter

Perhaps best known as a member of eclectic soul and acid jazz quartet Cooly’s Hot Box, Angela Johnson is that rare triple threat: a singer, songwriter, and producer in her own right. This industry veteran recently released her sixth solo effort, titled Naturally Me, in which she mines the spirit of classic 70s and 80s soul, from Aretha Franklin to Natalie Cole to Prince, to cover a range of topics, from Trayvon Martin and community mobilization to keeping the home fires burning. Backed by the supremely talented trio of Lisala Beatty, Tiffany T’zelle Wilson, and Darius Booker, Johnson brings her commanding, self-assured vocals and modern, genre-blending mastery to the stage.
