Gallery Talk | Build what we hate. Destroy what we love.: Curator's Tour

This exhibition brings together the work of three artists presenting a visual repertoire of Venezuelan contemporary realities that explore themes of migration, memory, and interconnectedness among an atomized nation. The artworks employ visual storytelling to delve into the social and material aspects of Venezuela’s mass exodus, focusing on what migrants carry and leave behind. Clothing artifacts explore the identity transformation that migration causes, highlighting personal journeys through textile weavings. Ethnographic and netnographic studies reveal the underlying forces that trigger these movements and condition individuals to adapt and harness violence to their favor. And fragmented family histories are presented through altered archives, mirroring migrants' experiences and their efforts to preserve and reimagine their own stories. Featuring work by: Cassandra Mayela, Juan Diego Pérez la Cruz, Ronald Pizzoferrato
