Opera | Grand Theatre de Geneve: Debussy's Pelleas and Melisande (virtual, streaming for 24 hours)

Lost in a forest, a prince meets a mysterious woman and takes her home to a dark castle haunted by repressed longings. There she grows fonder of her new husband's half-brother, sparking a fatal love triangle between the three of them. In a perfect synergy of the arts, choreographers Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui and Damien Jalet, together with the legendary performance artist Marina Abramovic, stage Pelleas et Melisande as a cosmic dream. Like Debussy through his impressionistic music, the performers and creators of this production dispense with any illustration and instead bring out the hidden emotions of the characters.

Play | Teresa Deevy's Katie Roche: A glowing, evocative production - The New Yorker (virtual, streaming for 24 hours)

“A glowing, evocative production... Deevy's dialogue is practically minimalist, but in very few words an entire culture is revealed, and the mysteries of the human heart explored.” - The New Yorker Katie Roche is Teresa Deevy's most celebrated drama. The play’s mercurial heroine is a servant girl whose romantic ambitions reach for the heavens. This is an archival recording. Streaming is available until Mar 28th.

Museums | Jewish History: Centuries of Art (in-person)

One of the largest collections of art and Jewish culture in the world, it focuses both on artifacts of Jewish history and on modern and contemporary art. Works in the collection are presented as distinctive creative expressions and as bearers of the stories of those who made, owned, used, preserved, and sometimes transformed them. The exhibition speaks of the vast range of Jewish experiences across the globe and over time, made tangible through artistic expression. Concert | Cello and Piano: dancing energy, nifty melodic turns, and ... wistful lyricisms (virtual)

"Musto’s music overflows with dancing energy, nifty melodic turns, and ... wistful lyricisms that erupt at unpredictable intervals into playful outbursts of balletic merriment.” - American Record Guide Cellist Alexis Pia Gerlach and pianist Michael Boriskin perform cello and piano sonata by Emmy Award-winning composer John Musto who seamlessly brings together the erudition of a contrapuntal musical master, the brilliance and "groove" of a jazz instrumentalist, and the rhythmic ebullience of a Brazilian dancer. This dazzling tour-de-force features two fearsomely virtuosic instrumental parts in uncommonly close collaboration: the cello and piano constantly engage and interact, whether within the intellectual rigors of a spiky, Bachian musical conversation; the languors of a serene, introspective ballad; or the acrobatics of complex Latin dance steps.

Techniques career coach Win Sheffield will cover include: * Recognizing how to use your strengths to impress your listener in more quiet ways; * Using story to approach difficult topics, avoiding awkwardness; * Structured ways to approach and prepare for conversations; * Career management methods that minimize conversation.

Book Discussion | Learning to Pray: A Guide for Everyone, Author in Conversation (virtual)

How does one pray? It may seem a silly question, but it’s one Father James Martin has received—and asked—many times throughout his thirty years as a spiritual leader. In Learning to Pray: A Guide for Everyone, Father Martin assures readers there is no wrong way to pray. He expands his chapter on communicating with God from his bestselling book The Jesuit Guide to (Almost) Everything into a profound and practical handbook that explains what prayer is, what to expect from praying, how to do it, and how it can transform us when we make it a regular practice.  Bestselling author Mary Karr calls the book "A smart, wise, often side-splittingly funny master class in seeking God. Any spiritual seeker—from atheist to professional religious—will cherish this bravura tome from one of our great spiritual guides, in the lineage of C. S. Lewis, Henri Nouwen, Thomas Merton, Gandhi, and Mother Teresa. Hallelujah & amen!" Karr will interview Martin about the book, followed by an audience Q&A.
