You can take at least 13 free tours every day of the year, except the New Year Day, July 4th, and the Christmas Day. The garden has close to 100 varieties of tulip, with examples blooming from early April to late May. In addition, small bulbs such as crocuses, snowdrops, scilla, winter aconite and grape hyacinths start to bloom from mid-March, and many daffodils, narcissi and hyacinths can be seen in April. Masks are required.

David Hare has been described by the Washington Post as “the premiere political dramatist writing in English.” He has written over 30 stage plays and 30 screenplays for film and television. The plays include Plenty, Pravda (with Howard Brenton), The Secret Rapture, Racing Demon, Skylight, Amy’s View, The Blue Room, Via Dolorosa, Stuff Happens, The Absence of War, The Judas Kiss, The Red Barn and The Moderate Soprano. For cinema, he has written The Hours, The Reader, Damage, Denial, Wetherby, and The White Crow, among others, while his television films include Licking Hitler, The Worricker Trilogy, Collateral, and Roadkill. Tour | Transylvania: The Medieval City of Sibiu, By Night (virtual)


Also known as Hermanstadt in German - which is still one of the spoken languages for centuries here, Sibiu is one of the seven walled citadels of Siebenburgen (Transylvania in German) built by the German Saxons in the 12th century and quickly became an important trade center which led also for the city to become the capital of Transylvania between 1692 - 1791. Discussion | Painting the Holocaust: Remembering Artist Alfred Kantor and His Sketchbook (virtual)


At Terezin, Auschwitz, and Schwarzheide, Jewish artist Alfred Kantor secretly documented the scenes around him in a sketch book. Today, the hundreds of sketches and watercolors he produced between 1941 and 1947 constitute one of the most prolific artistic records of the Holocaust. Classical Music | New York Philharmonic's Musicians: Messiaen's Quartet for the End of Time (virtual)


New York Philharmonic's principal players Carter Brey, cello, and Anthony McGill, clarinet, are joined by pianist Inon Barnatan and former New York Philharmonic music director Alan Gilbert, violin, for a nuanced and heart-wrenching performance of Olivier Messiaen's Quartet for the End of Time. Inspired by texts from the Book of Revelation, the work was composed during Messiaen's internment in a German prisoner-of-war camp and was first performed by and for fellow prisoners in 1941.

Jean-Pierre Ponnelle's dramatic production brings ancient Rome to life for this gripping tale of revenge, terror, and attempted murder. Giuseppe Filianoti is the Emperor Tito who chooses Servilia (Lucy Crowe) to be his Empress. But when she tells him she is already in love with Annio (Kate Lindsey) he decides to wed Vitellia (Barbara Frittoli) instead. Unaware of the honor about to be bestowed on her, Vitelllia, daughter of the deposed emperor, is determined to seek revenge on Tito and ensnares her lover Sesto (Elina Garanca) in her dark plot. Early music specialist Harry Bicket conducts. The event will streaming for 23 hours.
