Sarah Nagle's He’s Not Touching Her is a conceptual performance game designed to expose the gender ... more >> socialization that leaves female-identifying people vulnerable to patterns of abuse on a micro and macro level. Set in a storefront space in Midtown Manhattan, it secondarily references the insidious relationship between gender oppression and consumerism. A male dancer follows a blindfolded female dancer closely, and the only rule is: don’t let him touch you. If she comes into contact with him, he resets her and the game starts from the beginning. Showcasing a man and a woman coupled in the same game, He’s Not Touching Her acknowledges that all genders suffer from societally defined gender expectations, but it highlights the severe disadvantages placed on female-identifying people.

This two-hour guided walking tour allows you to experience the old, the new, and what's to come! Learn how this concentration of venues and people is shifting the cultural landscape of the borough and the city, while you discover the surprising historical core: a flourishing Fulton Street arts center, of more than a century ago. Over the 120 minutes, you will stroll through the gorgeous brownstone-dotted streets of Fort Greene, past both spontaneous and commissioned street art, to see where more than a dozen spaces and locations have already made the Brooklyn Cultural District a major arts destination for performances of every type, large and small. Adding to the Brooklyn cultural experience, "pop-up" performances by Fort Greene's American Opera Projects, accompany the tour. Tour Leader Dr. Ron Janoff is a licensed tour guide, a professor of Classics, Coordinator of the Rockwell Place Community Garden in the heart of the Brooklyn Cultural District, and a long-time Fort Greene resident.
