A conversation with Laurence Tubiana and Alexis Abramson, moderated by M. Sanjayan. The Paris Climate Agreement was unanimously adopted by 194 countries in 2015 against considerable odds. The Agreement set an ambitious goal of limiting the global average temperature increase to well below 2?C above pre-industrial levels and pursuing efforts to restrict the increase to 1.5?C. The United States, a major force in the successful ratification of the Accord, has since pulled out of the agreement twice, most recently in January 2026. New York City is the most polyglot city in the world - more than 800 languages are spoken here. With the Transletting Walk, attendees celebrate this richness and explore what happens when translation leaves the page and enters the street. The walk moves through the park: readers read aloud in many languages - often at the same time - and participants are invited to join in. Translation can happen across or within languages. You can read along, translate, or simply listen and drift alongside. Feel free to bring your own texts - the walk is porous by design. Workshop | An Evening of Rowing in New York Harbor
At this rowing session, after a brief orientation, participants will be assigned to a crew with an experienced coxswain to steer the boat and a mixture of experienced and new rowers. The boats, Whitehall gigs, are stable, traditional working boats for four rowers and a coxswain. No experience is necessary and rowers of all ability levels are welcome! Opening Reception | Kino Drift: Multi-Media Exhibition Presenting an Evolving Set of Conditions
A project by artist Rafał Skoczek. Conceived as a temporary exhibition space and venue for self-organized cultural activity, Kino Drift brings together film screenings, concerts, readings, publications, and artworks within an environment that continuously shifts over the course of its duration. Skoczek’s practice moves between painting, exhibition-making, publishing, music, and collaborative programming, often taking shape through social and infrastructural forms. For Kino Drift, he transforms an artist studio into a site for gathering and exchange, drawing on a network of ongoing projects, friendships, and affinities. Part cinema, part library, part venue, the exhibition develops progressively throughout its duration, functioning less as a static presentation than as an evolving set of conditions.

To mark the launch The Death of the Clinic: Radical Experiments in the Art of Medicine, author Benoit Loiseau discusses the book with Emily Apter. Weaving together biography, memoir and cultural history, The Death of the Clinic is a groundbreaking exploration of five experimental clinics in recent Western history: a sex clinic housed in a stately mansion in Weimar Berlin; a preventive health centre in pre-NHS London; a post-war institute of psychiatry in a French chateau; a feminist health centre in 1970s Geneva; and a grassroots research initiative run by and for people with AIDS in New York. Each of these clinics emerged in response to seismic political shifts and era-defining global events. Yet at their heart lie the stories of extraordinary individuals who dared to reimagine how we care for one another. Reframing Michel Foucault's seminal book, Loiseau's The Death of the Clinic is a radical invitation to rethink the clinic - not as a fixed institution but as a living, evolving practice rooted in care, resistance, and collective imagination.

To celebrate Grey Art Museum's exhibition Making Music: Helen Frankenthaler Prints, this event is an evening of conversation and performance. It explores connections between visual abstraction and musical expression. Composer Kenneth Fuchs (Professor of Composition, University of Connecticut) will discuss how the colors and compositions of Frankenthaler's Abstract Expressionist paintings inspired him to compose concertos and other vibrant, emotionally direct music. Fuchs will be in dialogue with Dr. Douglas Dreishpoon (Director, Catalogue Raisonne Project, Helen Frankenthaler Foundation) to explore how both composer and artist sought to give form to feeling through poetic means. Musicians from MPAP will perform a movement from Fuchs's Fire, Ice, and Summer Bronze (1986), composed after two works on paper by Frankenthaler. Featuring: Joshua Condori, trumpet, Molly Weisberg, trumpet, Taylor Krause, French horn, Ethan Clark, trombone, and David Horn, tuba. A reception will follow the conversation and performance.

Film | Anora (2024): Sean Baker's Oscar-Winning Romantic Comedy-Drama
Anora, a young woman from Brooklyn, gets her chance at a Cinderella story when she meets and marries the son of an oligarch. Once the news reaches Russia, her fairytale is threatened as the parents set out for New York to get the marriage annulled. Director: Sean Baker Cast: Mikey Madison, Mark Eydelshteyn, Yura Borisov, Karren Karagulian Sean Baker is a director, writer, editor, and producer of independent narrative feature films, often about the lives of marginalized people. For Anora, he received the Palme d'Or and, alongside his wife Samantha Quan, the British Academy Film Award for Best Casting, before proceeding to win, for Anora, Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay and Best Film Editing at the 97th Academy Awards. He is the first person to individually win four Oscars for the same film in a single ceremony. Followed by a Q&A with the film's production sound mixer.

Coltrane scholar Ashley Kahn, music critic and Clive Davis Institute faculty member Naima Cochrane, harpist, composer, and bandleader Brandee Younger, and master saxophonist and composer David Murray lead an intimate conversation about John Coltrane’s life and lasting influence. Music from across Coltrane's catalog and featured on forthcoming retrospectives will also be played during the event.

Don Juan has abandoned Elvira, whom he seduced into breaking her vows and marrying him. Over the course of a single adventure-filled day, he and his loyal sidekick, Sganarelle, encounter many of the people Don Juan has betrayed. As he seduces women, defies social conventions, mocks religion, and revels in provocation, his appetite for transgression seems impossible to satisfy. Yet the signs are unmistakable: the walls are closing in. Will he truly repent? Or will he just pretend to, like so many around him, and continue down the same path to the bitter end? Talk | Network Science Expert Discusses Modern Architectural History & Visual Journey of Networks
In this talk, Albert-László Barabási will chart the 25-year odyssey of BarabásiLab in crafting the visual lexicon of networks and connectivity. He will focus on their recent monumental project for the 2024 Venice Architecture Biennale, which charts 50 years of architectural history. Dr. Barabási is the Robert Gray Professor of Network Science at Northeastern University. He has exhibited at galleries all over the U.S and Europe and recently co-designed the opening experience for the Biennale Architettura di Venezia.

Concert | Acclaimed Musicians Celebrate the Legacies of D'Angelo and Prince
Guitarist Marcus Machado is known for his boundary-pushing rock, funk, and soulful stylings. In this performance, Machado honors two of the groundbreaking artists who influenced his own work: D'Angelo and Prince. The musical tribute to the late legends features Jermaine Holmes and Rojo Lavoe, vocalists and members of D'Angelo's band The Vanguard. Joining this communal effort are singer/songwriter Sandra St. Victor of The Family Stand and Lawrence "L.A.W" Worrell, a guitarist and singer who has worked with Amy Winehouse and George Clinton. There are two ways to access this event: 1. General Admission, first-come first-served. Just show up! 2. Fast Track opening the Monday before the event at noon.
