Author Reading | Jeff Dolven discusses his book Senses of Style: Poetry Before Interpretation

Author Readings, February 01, 2018, 02/01/2018, Jeff Dolven discusses his book Senses of Style: Poetry Before Interpretation

Thursday, February 1, 2018, 6:30 pm

Free

Do you sound like yourself today? Or like someone else? Like who? How can you tell? Is this some kind of movement? Are you a part of it? What time is it in here, anyway? And why are you reading this—are these your kinds of questions, is this your kind of event; will the people there be your kind of people?

Such problems will be hard to avoid when Jeff Dolven and Wayne Koestenbaum take up the self-divided, trivial, indispensable concept of style. The discussants will talk about Dolven’s new book, Senses of Style (Chicago 2018), and also respond to a suite of stylistic provocations curated by Sina Najafi, editor-in-chief of Cabinet magazine. Sir Thomas Wyatt and Frank O’Hara guest star.

Refreshments will be provided. Audience members are encouraged to show up in their style.
