7:30:
Ara Dinkjian (oud), Ismail Lumanovski (clarinet), and Tamer Pinarbasi (kanun zither) are the Secret Trio, whose percussive take on melodic instrumentation draws on Turkish, Armenian, and Macedonian Roma roots.
8:00:
Third-generation clarinet virtuoso Hüsnü Senlendirici is the secret ingredient in Nublu impresario Ilhan Ersahin’s Wonderland, a mix of traditional Turkish sounds and dub-influenced American nu-jazz.
9:00:
Musical activist Selda Bagcan made her controversial debut in the 1970s; the folk, funk, and rock singer has since been compared to Joan Baez, sampled by Mos Def, and lauded by Antony Hegarty as Turkey’s “voice of the people.”
