Revered in its native Benin and one of the oldest active post-independence bands in West Africa, the 11-member Orchestre Poly-Rythmo has been honing its crisp blend of Afrobeat, vodoun music, and James Brown-inspired funk for over 40 years, collaborating with artists like Angelique Kidjo, Fela Kuti, and Miriam Makeba. The group recently released Cotonou Club, its first studio album in over 20 years and a mesmerizing testament to its remarkable history.
