You can take at least 13 free tours every day of the year, except the New Year Day, July 4th, and the Christmas Day. Ernesto Pujol pays homage to all office workers in this site-specific performance. Eleven performers, dressed in white, silently write all day about the people they see, creating a literature of pedestrian life in the city. Tour | All-in-One Downtown Tour


This tour utilizes your feet and the New York City Subway* to transport you from Lower Manhattan, the birthplace of New York, through Wall St and the Financial District, Greenwich Village, SoHo, Chinatown and Midtown Manhattan. This is a 3-hour tour that begins with a walk over the Brooklyn Bridge, an icon of New York City for over 125 years, with spectacular views of Manhattan and Brooklyn. The tour then moves on to a stroll of Brooklyn Heights, America’s and New York City’s first suburb. The tour then explores the neighborhood DUMBO before ending at the Fulton Ferry landing. Now in its fifth year, the Abraham Lincoln Brigade Archives' (ALBA) documentary film festival creates a community-wide dialogue about justice, equality, and humanity through the presentation of documentaries on human rights issues, post-screening Q/A sessions with the film directors, and community talk-backs with human rights advocates and activists. This year's lineup features 21 films from 12 countries which tackle themes such as migration, incarceration, historical memory and social change. Concert | Ensemble Signal performs works by contemporary composers


Program: Clemens Gädenstatter moved by (2012/2013) U.S. premiere Brad Lubman Solo for cimbalom (2013) György Kurtág Hommage à Berényi Ferenc (1997) and Un brin de bruyère à Witold (1994) Oliver Knussen Four Late Poems and an Epigram of Rainer Maria Rilke, Op. 23 (1988) Helmut Lachenmann Guero (1969) The artists of Ensemble Signal share their musical inspirations with this program of solo works. Powerhouse violinist Olivia De Prato gives the U.S. premiere of a piece by Clemens Gädenstatter, a rising talent from Austria, where De Prato studied. Nicholas Tolle shares his love of the cimbalom with two pieces by György Kurtág, whose compositions first inspired Tolle to learn the complex Hungarian instrument. Tolle will also perform a piece written for him by Signal’s Co-Artistic Director, Brad Lubman, alongside a work for solo soprano by one of Lubman’s own mentors, Oliver Knussen.

Venegas and Venegas is an exhibition of Mexican photographers Yvonne Venegas and Jose Luis Venegas. Yvonne Venegas's first solo show in New York, the exhibition will include a selection from three of her projects that deal with class, aspiration, and the rituals and lifestyles of upper income communities in Tijuana and San Pedro, Monterrey. Concert | Bachauer Piano Recital


The Bachauer Competition awards young artists free tuition scholarships. Radio station WQXR continues its tradition of broadcasting the recital as part of its McGraw-Hill Financial Young Artists Showcase series hosted by Robert Sherman, now in its 38th season. During the broadcast, the recipient of the Robert Sherman Award will be announced, which carries a $10,000 grant supporting ongoing projects in music education and community outreach. Concert | Viola Faculty Recital: Shmuel Katz


A native of Israel, Shmuel Katz began his violin studies at age 8 and picked up the viola at age 13, he maintains a performing career on both instruments. He graduated with honors from the Tel-Aviv Conservatory in 1992 and then served as first violinist of the Israeli army string quartet and a concertmaster of the Israeli army chamber orchestra as a part of the Outstanding Musicians Program of the Israel Defense Forces. He served as a concertmaster and soloist with the Young Israel Philharmonic, the Israel Conservatory Chamber Orchestra and the Thelma Yellin High School for the Arts Symphony.
