Screening | Dance on Film: August Bournonville, Danish ballet master and choreographer


A dance historian and critic David Vaughan will introduce and screen Conservatoriet, plus historic films of other ballets and of Bournonville classes. August Bournonville (1805–1879) was a Danish ballet master and choreographer. From 1830 to 1848 he was choreographer for the Royal Danish Ballet, for which he created more than 50 ballets admired for their exuberance, lightness and beauty. David Vaughan is a dance historian and critic and was the archivist of the Merce Cunningham Dance Company from 1976 until the company was disbanded in 2012.
