Concert | Emeline Michel, the Queen of Haitian Song


Emeline Michel took her first steps to becoming the reigning Queen of Haitian song by singing gospel music in her church choir. Born in Gonaïves, Haiti, Michel enjoys an international career singing in Creole and French, performing at major festivals, and recording for record labels in France, Canada, and the US. Rooted in native Haitian musical traditions, Michel’s songs frequently address social issues and are splashed with touches of jazz, blues, and samba. Her silky voice tenderly caresses every lyric and has been described as “serene, and warm like a breeze” by The New York Times.
