Hui-Mei Lin, a native of Taiwan, received the William Petchek full scholarship to the Master’s program at the Juilliard School. In 2002, she received a Doctoral of Musical Arts degree from the Graduate School of the City University of New York. She made her solo debut at the Weill Recital Hall as a winner of the Artists International Competition. Pianist Bari Mort, as winner of the Artists International Young Musicians Auditions, made her New York recital debut at Weill Recital Hall. New York Times critic Bernard Holland described her as a pianist who "uses her excellent musical instincts with taste and technical security." He went on to comment on her "big, generous ideas...pure phrasing" and "intense virtuosity."
