Raul Midón’s syncopated flamenco- and jazz-infused acoustic guitar is a wonder matched only by his silky tenor. Blind since infancy, the emotionally insightful songwriter got his start as a backup singer for Shakira, which eventually led to collaborations with the likes of Bill Withers and Stevie Wonder, along with appearances on recordings by Queen Latifah and Snoop Dogg. Perhaps best known for his improvisational mouth-horn technique, in which he performs a bebop “trumpet” solo entirely with his lips, Midón released his latest album, Bad Ass and Blind, earlier this year.

Few, however, think of it as the largest and longest art gallery on the planet. Well, they don't know what they are missing. This lively walking AND subway riding tour visits over a dozen subway stations to experience a selection of these striking often whimsical works that go largely unnoticed by the general public. Join this climate controlled subway and walking art tour. Along the way you'll learn about and become expert at navigating the (in)famous NYC subway system. There's also the invaluable opportunity to confer about your other sightseeing plans with the acclaimed Bronx born, vastly experienced licensed NYC tour guide, Darryl Reilly. Taking Ralph Ellison's novel Invisible Man as a starting point, The Eulogy delivers a poignant commentary on police violence in the United States in the style of a New Orleans second line funeral procession. Music by the Sugartone Brass Band will interweave Shaun Leonardo's speech, punctuating the words that serve as a memorial, a rejection, a challenge, and a call to action all at once.

Rome’s leader, Julius Caesar, is a force unlike any the city has seen. Magnetic, populist, irreverent, he seems bent on absolute power. A small band of patriots, devoted to the country’s democratic traditions, must decide how to oppose him. Shakespeare’s political masterpiece has never felt more contemporary.Runs May 23-28, May 30-June 3, June 6-13 and June 15-18.
